Blaspheming the Holy Spirit

Moses struck the rock. God told him to speak to the rock, but Moses struck it anyway. Moses did not do the perfect will of God. But somehow he still had the power in Him to make it work. Moses had come into an understanding of his own God given authority over creation. He had the power of God in his body. But he still did something that was rebellious with that power.

I am in no way saying what Elisha did was "God's will". What I am saying is that Elisha had been anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit. God isn't a "control freak". He doesn't go around making sure everything we do is exactly how He wants it to be. Not that we aren't predestined. But we can certainly choose not to walk in that destiny. He allows us to screw up. He also allows things to happen in order to again teach us or others around us something. What happened with Elisha was a very direct lesson to the people in the land that he was indeed filled with God's Holy Power.

The verses below show very clearly that we are abassadors to God and that He lives in us and we in Him. That we have His breath in our lungs, that our words can and should and often do carry the same power and authority that He has. It is His name that has the power. People can abuse or misuse His name and have many times. That doesn't take away the power. His gifts are without repentance. People can be full of His power and still never know Him. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

To blaspheme the Holy Spirit is to say that the works He is doing are really not Him but are the work of the devil. To deny His existence is to blaspheme Him, especially I believe after seeing His power. I am certain I have done no such thing.

Jesus' was completely meek. Meekness is power under control. I have to say I am not there yet, and I am sure that Elisha was not either. He had the power but was not always in control of it. Same thing with pretty much every human in the Bible except for Jesus.

Genesis 2:7
7Then the LORD God formed man of (AU)dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and (AV)man became a living being.

Genesis 1:26-30
26Then God said, "Let (AE)Us make (AF)man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them (AG)rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

27God created man (AH)in His own image, in the image of God He created him; (AI)male and female He created them.

28God blessed them; and God said to them, "(AJ)Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

29Then God said, "Behold, (AK)I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;

30and (AL)to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food"; and it was so.

Galatians 2:20 niv
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Luke 12:8-10
"I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God. 9But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God. 10And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. niv

Mark 3:20-30 niv
20Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind."

22And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub[c]! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons."

23So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? 24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. 28I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. 29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."

30He said this because they were saying, "He has an evil spirit."

John 17 niv
Jesus Prays for Himself
1After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
Jesus Prays for His Disciples
6"I have revealed you[a] to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one. 12While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. 13"I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17Sanctify[b] them by the truth; your word is truth. 18As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
Jesus Prays for All Believers
20"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24"Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25"Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

John 14:11-15
11"Believe Me that (P)I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise (Q)believe because of the works themselves.

12"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and (R)greater works than these he will do; because (S)I go to the Father.

13"(T)Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that (U)the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14"If you ask Me anything (V)in My name, I will do it.

15"(W)If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

john 14:19-21
19"(AB)After a little while (AC)the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; (AD)because I live, you will live also.

20"(AE)In that day you will know that (AF)I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

21"(AG)He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and (AH)he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will (AI)disclose Myself to him."

John 12:47 nkjv
And if anyone hears My words and does not believe,[i] I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. 50 And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.”

Proverbs 18:21

New International Version (NIV)
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

1 Corinthians 6:17 nasb
But the one who joins himself to the Lord is (AF)one spirit with Him.

John 15:1-8 niv
The Vine and the Branches
1"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Ephesians 5:29-32 nasb
29for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church,

30because we are (BK)members of His (BL)body.

31(BM)FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH.

32This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
